Working as a Security Officer in the Private Security Industry Training

From Monday 29th November to Friday 3rd December 2021, our Training Development and Delivery Lead, Henry Pattison, delivered a Highfield Accredited Level 2 Working as a Security Officer in the Private Security Industry course.

The course is delivered across 5 days at our office base, Business Central, Darlington, teaching students the key fundamentals to becoming a security officer. Security is implemented into all industries from hospitality to museums and galleries in order to keep venues secure and people safe. Since the 1st of April 2021, the SIA has implemented changes to the training requirements for licensed security officers operating in the UK’s, private security industry. These changes have resulted in the introduction of new training content and additional modules that continue supporting the professionalisation of the security sectors.

This qualification is designed for any new entrants to the sector without a previous qualification conferring full or partial exemption. Following successful completion of the programme learners can apply for SIA Security Officer License to work in the security industry. The content taught includes theory and practical based learning. After learning key terminology, students were able to demonstrate the use of metal detector scanners and radio communication during the course followed by their role play, oral and question-and-answer examinations on the final day.

Upon successful completion of the course, students will receive certification to prove their place on the course and passing their exams. They can then apply for their SIA licence which takes them further into their careers as security officers. We are delighted to work with students from Darlington College’s DC Works organisation as their chosen training provider for this course. We wish them the best of luck ahead of their results as they take a step further to into their careers.
