- Situational awareness is a very important skill to remember. It is the process of using all our senses to recognise if a situation make us feel scared, threatened and not entirely safe so that we can proactively respond to it.

This programme is designed to provide advice and guidance on how staff can enhance their levels of situational awareness to better protect themselves as well as colleagues, clients, and the public.
Target Audience: this programme is suitable for all members of staff, regardless of their role and sector of operation.Â
Having staff that are alert and vigilant to the threats that exist provides those working across different sectors with an additional layer of security. This applies to all sectors, from security to hospitality, from transportation to culture and tourism.
Every day we gather millions of information from the environment through our senses but we process and analyse only a very small percentage of these data. This lack of analysis and understanding increases the chances of us NOT being able to proactively identify elements of suspicious behaviour and activity that can pose a risk to our assets, colleagues and, where applicable, the public.
This is why situational awareness is often considered the cornerstone of personal safety security, and we strongly advocate for training of staff in this subject. The workshop, CPD certified, explains this concept as well as how to use senses to identify changes in the environment to pre-empt possible threats which can negatively impact the ability of workers to accomplish work tasks. During the programme, participants will increase their levels of awareness so they recognise the threats that exist and how they can manifest themselves. This will be achieved through powerPoint, group discussions, and hands-on activities which will help participants understand proactive steps that can be taken by everybody to reduce and manage the risks faced. Finally, the workshop describes factors that can negatively impact how people are alert and vigilant, and it identifies proactive actions that can be taken to prevent being caught in a ‘victim state’.
After completion of the programme, a certificate of attendance and a handout with a summary of the main topics covered will be sent to participants via email.Â
