5th Anniversary of the Manchester Arena Terrorist Attack

The 22nd of May 2022 marked the 5-year anniversary of the Manchester Arena bombing. The devastating news impacted the world and has been an important reevaluation tool for implementing security measures at public venues.

Thousands of people were impacted by the tragedy that happened 5 years ago this month. Twenty-three people were killed, including the attacker, as well as 1,017 people injured as they escaped the deadly blast. Children were among the crowds and many of them make up for those who were injured. An independent public inquiry to investigate the deaths of the victims in the 2017 attack has been ongoing since October 2019. The attack in Manchester is now the worst terror attack to take place in the UK since the 7/7 bombings in London in 2005.

Following the attact, physical, technical and operational security measures have been heightened in attempts to keep venues safer and secure for large scale events. Training and education are key components to keeping staff and visitors safe in all types of venues.

Trident Manor Training Academy is proud to deliver programmes that help individuals and event management companies develop proactive protection strategies to reduce the risks faced by venues and visitors alike. These programmes have been delivered globally and implemented at multiple events.

Over the past 20 years, our managing director has developed programmes that increase situational awareness (CPD programmes exist), the ability to detect hostile surveillance, and proactive operational activities to demonstrate awareness and vigilance to help deter attackers.

Our thoughts are with the families and friends of those lost during this tragic event that is now a part of England’s history and we hope that by offering services that help counter the terrorist threat we can prevent such a tragedy from occurring ever again.
